The Master’s Program in Tutoring at Moscow City University: an Experience of Innovative Higher Education
DOI: 10.23951/2782-2575-2026-2-5-21
The article presents an analysis of the 17-year experience of implementing the Master’s program “Tutoring in Education” at Moscow City University (MCU) as an innovative model of higher education. Drawing on Z. Bauman’s ideas about the crisis of traditional education in a rapidly changing world, the authors substantiate the need for educational models that support and develop student subjectivity and agency. The paper provides a detailed description of unique formats for supporting individual educational trajectories: the applicant tutorial “Mine or Not Mine,” a system of cross-year peer tutoring, and the use of the “interactive questioning” method in assessment procedures. Since 2024, the program has given special attention to its digital transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into the educational process, with AI serving as a “research partner.” The presented case demonstrates the potential to bridge the gap between theory and practice in preparing a new type of educator capable of independently designing their professional path.
